Tragic Plane Crash Claims Life of Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola's Husband

Eugene Peltola Jr., husband of Rep. Mary Peltola (D-Alaska), died in a plane crash in western Alaska. The single-engine Piper PA-18 crashed shortly after takeoff, and Peltola, the only person on board, died before a rescue team arrived. Peltola, a tribal member and former director for the Bureau of Indian Affairs Alaska Region, was remembered as an incredible man. Alaska has a high rate of small plane crashes due to its rugged terrain and limited infrastructure.
