Tragic Accident Claims Life of 77-Year-Old Newark Woman

A 77-year-old woman from Newark, Delaware, was killed after being struck by a car while attempting to cross a dark street. The impact was so strong that she was launched into the air and landed on another car. The driver of the vehicle that hit her was a 19-year-old man from Elkton, Maryland. There was no crosswalk in the area, and the incident occurred in a poorly lit section of the road. In a separate incident the same night, another pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a car in Wilmington. Delaware has seen 74 traffic deaths so far in 2023, making it the fifth most dangerous state for pedestrians in the country.
