"Vice President Harris Sets Binding Requirements for Federal Agencies' Use of AI Technology"

Vice President Kamala Harris announced the White House Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) first government-wide policy to mitigate risks of artificial intelligence (AI) and harness its benefits, completing the 150-day actions tasked by President Biden’s landmark Executive Order on AI. The policy aims to address risks from the use of AI, expand transparency of AI use, advance responsible AI innovation, grow the AI workforce, and strengthen AI governance in federal agencies. It requires agencies to implement safeguards, improve public transparency, remove barriers to innovation, expand and upskill AI talent, and ensure accountability and oversight for the use of AI.
