Pope County Mourns Fallen Deputy Josh Owen and Swears in New Officers.

Nearly 4,500 people, mostly law enforcement officers, paid their respects to fallen Pope County sheriff's deputy Joshua Anthony Owen, who lost his life on April 15, 2023, while responding to a domestic abuse incident. The funeral service was held at Minnewaska Area High School near Glenwood, Minnesota, and included eulogies from Lt. Col. John Anderson and Nathan Brecht, chief deputy of the Pope County Sheriff’s Office. Owen was remembered as a devoted husband and father, a skilled prankster, and a hero who sacrificed his life for the principles he believed in.
