Orlando to Acquire Pulse Nightclub for Public Memorial

The City of Orlando plans to purchase the Pulse nightclub, the site of a deadly mass shooting in 2016, for $2 million in order to create a public memorial honoring the 49 victims. The purchase is pending final approval from the city council. The decision comes after discussions with victims' families who expressed a strong desire for a memorial to be located at the club's former site. The OnePulse Foundation, which represents the victims' families, expressed gratitude for the decision. The closing date for the purchase is set for October 27.
