Nonprofit Implements Camera Systems to Curb Speeding and Takeovers.

Nonprofit Streets Are For Everyone is pushing for Assembly Bill 645, which would create a pilot program for installing speed safety systems using cameras to photograph speeding and other unsafe driving behavior to curb the recent uptick in street takeovers in South Los Angeles. The program would be limited, with cities over 3 million in population allowed to install up to 125 systems, while cities between 800,000 and 3 million can only install 33 systems. Los Angeles city and school officials have also planned to install speed humps around schools after recent pedestrian accidents.
