"Helicopter Rescue Saves Stranded College Students at Red River Gorge"

Four college students from Asbury University were rescued from the top of Courthouse Rock in the Red River Gorge using a helicopter after becoming stranded due to unexpected snowfall during a camping trip. The students, who had climbed without ropes, were evaluated and found to be cold but okay. The rescue, which involved a rare helicopter landing on the rock, was carried out by Powell County Search and Rescue, Kentucky State Police, Redstar Wilderness EMS, and Wolfe County Search and Rescue.
