Wisconsin Ethics Commission Recommends Felony Charges for Trump Fundraising Committee

The Wisconsin Ethics Commission has recommended felony charges against Donald Trump's Save America PAC, GOP Rep. Janel Brandtjen, and others for an alleged scheme to evade campaign finance laws in an effort to unseat Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos. The alleged scheme involved funneling donations above the individual limit to the county party instead, with Trump's PAC donating $5,000 to a county Republican party, which was then transferred to the campaign of Adam Steen, who ran against Vos. The commission has referred the alleged violations to several county prosecutors, and if charges are not initiated within 60 days, the panel will take the referrals to another district attorney or the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
