White House Takes Action to Address Campus Antisemitism and Islamophobia

US Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff met with Jewish leaders to discuss the disturbing pattern of antisemitic threats of violence in schools and college campuses. The Biden administration has expedited an initiative to include antisemitism as prohibited under civil rights law, and the Education Department will conduct site visits to address and learn about antisemitism at college campuses. The Justice and Homeland Security Departments are including campus police in meetings regarding antisemitism, and the Homeland Security Department's cybersecurity experts will engage with colleges across the country. The White House has also called out the "grotesque" and "antisemitic" actions of students protesting against Israel on American college campuses.
