White House Press Secretary Found to Have Violated Hatch Act

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre violated the Hatch Act by repeatedly warning of "mega MAGA Republicans" during press briefings last year, according to the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. Although the agency did not take disciplinary action, it warned Jean-Pierre that future violations could result in disciplinary action. The Hatch Act prohibits federal employees from using their title to engage in political activity to interfere with the results of an election. The White House Legal Counsel's Office did not believe Jean-Pierre's remarks violated the Hatch Act.
