White House Convenes State Legislators to Tackle Gun Violence

Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with nearly 100 Democratic state legislators from 39 states at the White House to discuss ways to address gun violence in the United States. Gun violence has been the leading cause of death for children in the U.S. since 2020, and the country has the highest rate of gun deaths among wealthy nations. Democrats generally support stricter gun laws, while Republicans, backed by the National Rifle Association, oppose such measures, citing the Second Amendment.
