Washington State Governor Signs Bill Banning Assault Weapons and AR-15s

Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed a bill banning the manufacture, purchase, and import of assault-style weapons, making Washington the 10th state to do so. Inslee also signed two other gun safety bills, one mandating safety training and a waiting period before purchasing a firearm, and the other increasing industry accountability and access to justice for gun violence victims and survivors. The laws went into effect immediately after being signed, and a lawsuit challenging the assault weapons ban was filed by the Second Amendment Foundation.
