Washington Implements Strict Gun Control Measures, Including Assault Weapons Ban

Washington state has become the 10th state in the US to ban the sale of assault rifles, with Governor Jay Inslee signing a series of gun safety bills into law. The bills include a ban on the sale of at least 60 types of assault weapons, a 10-day waiting period and safety training requirement to purchase any firearm, and requiring members of the firearm industry to enforce reasonable controls on gun sales. The renewed push for gun reform comes in the wake of several deadly mass shootings in the past month. The White House issued a statement commending Inslee and state lawmakers for making every community in the state safer and more secure.
