US Attorney for Massachusetts Resigns After Ethics Probe and Allegations of Election Interference and Perjury

The Justice Department's internal watchdog released a report accusing Rachael Rollins, the top federal prosecutor in Massachusetts, of trying to influence the outcome of a race for Boston's district attorney, leaking nonpublic information, accepting gifts, and violating multiple policies. Rollins announced her resignation on Tuesday. The report also found that Rollins violated the Hatch Act, a law that limits political activity by government workers. Rollins was elected Suffolk County District Attorney in 2018 and became U.S. Attorney in January 2022.
