Former President Trump maintains a strong lead in the 2024 GOP presidential primary, with 59% of Republicans preferring him as the nominee, according to a Wall Street Journal poll. Despite facing four criminal indictments related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election, Trump's support has not wavered. In fact, 60% of Republicans view the charges as political, and 48% said the indictments make them more likely to vote for Trump. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who initially had strong support, has seen a decline in his numbers, currently polling at 13%. In a hypothetical general election matchup against President Biden, Trump and Biden are tied at 46% support.
