Trump confirms he's a target in Jan. 6 special counsel probe
Former President Donald Trump claims that special counsel Jack Smith has informed him that he is a target in the Jan. 6 criminal investigation and may soon face indictment. Trump has already been charged with about two dozen crimes related to retaining classified documents when he left the White House. He posted his statement on his Truth Social account, criticizing Smith and the DOJ. Trump's lawyers have requested that any trial in his classified documents case be held after the 2024 election, but Smith's prosecutors oppose this. Trump is also under investigation by a Georgia state prosecutor for his attempts to overturn his loss to President Joe Biden in Georgia.
