Trump awards military and Olympic heroes during State of the Union

At the State of the Union, President Trump awarded Purple Hearts to West Virginia National Guard members Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe and, posthumously, the family of Spc. Sarah Beckstrom; Olympic hockey goalie Connor Hellebuyck received the Presidential Medal of Freedom; Navy Capt. E. Royce Williams, aged 100, was awarded the Medal of Honor for a long-secret 1952 Korean War air engagement; Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover received the Medal of Honor for the Maduro operation in Venezuela; Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Scott Ruskan earned the Legion of Merit for rescuing dozens during July 2025 Texas floods.
