"Trone announces bid for open Maryland Senate seat, Hogan declines interest"

Rep. David Trone, founder of Total Wine & More, has officially launched his bid for the Democratic nomination to replace retiring Sen. Ben Cardin in Maryland. Trone is the second candidate to enter what is likely to be a crowded primary for an open Democratic-leaning Senate seat. His primary competition is likely to include Montgomery County Council Member Will Jawando and Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. Trone is willing to invest tens of millions of dollars into his statewide run, and his campaign manager will be Dan Morrocco. The biggest remaining question mark is whether Rep. Jamie Raskin will enter the race.
