Tim Scott's Presidential Campaign and the Spotlight on Black Republicans

Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, the only Black Republican in the Senate, plans to announce his presidential campaign on Monday, becoming one of a handful of Black conservatives to run for president in recent years. While Black Republicans are a small group of voters and politicians, those elected to office have expressed frustration that they are viewed not simply as conservatives but as Black conservatives.
