Texas House committee recommends expulsion of Rep. Slaton.

The House Committee on General Investigating has recommended the expulsion of Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton, a Republican, after finding that he engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a subordinate. The committee found that Slaton provided alcohol to a 19-year-old woman and then acted systematically to influence her and multiple witnesses to obstruct the investigation. Slaton has declined to comment on the allegations. The committee also is believed to be looking into claims that Rep. Jolanda Jones, a Houston Democrat, created an “abusive and hostile” work environment in her office.
