Special counsel Jack Smith has subpoenaed the Arizona secretary of state's office as part of his investigation into the January 6th riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The subpoenas sought information related to lawsuits filed by former President Donald Trump's campaign and former Arizona Republican Party chair Kelli Ward, alleging errors and fraud in the election results. The FBI also interviewed former Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers about his interactions with Trump associates. Smith has previously subpoenaed local officials in swing states for communications involving Trump and his allies.
