Roosevelt Hotel in NYC to Serve as Migrant Resource and Arrival Center

The Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan will be reopened as a migrant housing and resource center, with 175 rooms initially available for children and families. The hotel will also serve as a centralized intake center for all arriving asylum seekers, providing access to legal, medical, and reconnection services. The city plans to open a total of 850 rooms for children and families and 150 rooms for migrants stopping in New York on their way to other locations. The cost of running the center will come from the $1.4 billion the city has allocated to the migrant crisis for the current fiscal year.
