RI Officials Face Accusations of Racism and Sexism, Former Official Speaks Out.

Former Rhode Island official Jim Thorsen has spoken out about an email scandal that alleged he and another state director behaved badly on a business trip to Philadelphia. Thorsen said he did his best to navigate a difficult situation and had gone to the state’s human resources offices immediately upon landing in Rhode Island after the trip. The email, which alleged “bizarre, offensive” behavior that was “blatantly sexist, racist and unprofessional,” focused mostly on the other director's actions during the daylong trip. Scout officials also accused Thorsen of failing to intervene along the way.
