Republicans intensify Hunter Biden investigation, seeking testimony from key officials and witnesses

House Republicans have sent letters to the Justice Department, Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and U.S. Secret Service requesting that officials involved in the Hunter Biden tax investigation appear before the House Judiciary Committee for transcribed interviews. The request comes after IRS agents claimed that Justice Department officials slowed and stymied the investigation. Hunter Biden has reached a tentative agreement with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to two minor tax crimes and a gun charge. The House Republicans' letter includes requests for nine DOJ and two FBI officials, including David Weiss, the Delaware U.S. attorney overseeing the case, to face questions. The agencies have until July 13 to respond to the requests.
