Pro-Trump Influencer Convicted of Voter Suppression Scheme.

Pro-Trump social media influencer Douglass Mackey, also known as "Ricky Vaughn," has been convicted of election interference during the 2016 election by spreading disinformation online to suppress votes for Hillary Clinton. Mackey had over 58,000 followers and was ranked as the 107th most important influencer ahead of the 2016 elections. He conspired with other social media influencers to disseminate fraudulent messages that encouraged supporters of Clinton to vote via text message or social media, which was legally invalid. Mackey will face sentencing on Aug. 16, and his attorney is optimistic about appealing the verdict.
