Parkland Father Arrested During Chaotic Gun Rights Hearing at U.S. Capitol

A joint hearing on gun rights in Congress turned chaotic when Capitol Police arrested Manuel Oliver, whose son died in the 2018 Parkland shooting, and his wife Patricia. The Olivers had shouted about their son's death before being removed from the hearing room. Reps. Pat Fallon and Andy Biggs requested their removal. After the Olivers were removed, two officers pinned Manuel Oliver to the ground in the process of making an arrest. Patricia Oliver was not arrested. Rep. David Cicilline and Fallon had a verbal altercation over the Olivers' removal during the panel's brief recess.
