Outdated printers blamed for Arizona election tabulation issues.

Retired Arizona Supreme Court justice Ruth McGregor concluded that changes to the paper used for ballots, made in part to respond to unfounded conspiracy theories, caused problems with ballot printers during the 2020 election. The changes pushed the printers to the edge of their capabilities, resulting in longer lines at some polling places. McGregor suggested potential fixes for future elections, such as ditching the problematic printers or more aggressively testing them. Republican officials have pledged to make changes to better serve voters in the future.
