Oklahoma Governor Signs Ban on Gender-Affirming Care for Minors

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has signed a bill that makes it illegal for healthcare workers to provide gender-affirming medical care to minors, including puberty-blocking drugs and hormones. The bill makes it a felony to provide such care to anyone under the age of 18. Oklahoma joins at least 15 other states with similar laws, as conservatives across the country have targeted transgender rights. Transgender advocates and parents of transgender children say such care is essential, and civil liberty organizations have promised to take legal action to prevent the law from taking effect.
