New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued an emergency order ahead of the expiration of Title 42, allowing the state to mobilize an additional 500 members of the National Guard and deploy over $1 billion to support New York City's aid efforts for asylum seekers. New York City is expected to send migrants to its northern suburbs, with Mayor Eric Adams planning to bus them to predominantly Republican-controlled counties. Rockland County sued to halt the transfer of migrants from New York City and was granted a temporary restraining order, while Orangetown and Newburgh officials expressed concerns about the plan.
