"Meet the 9 House Republicans vying for the speakership"

Nine Republican lawmakers have declared their candidacy for House speaker as the House enters its third week without a speaker. The candidates will participate in a candidate forum and a secret ballot vote is expected to take place on Tuesday. The candidates include Jack Bergman, Byron Donalds, Tom Emmer, Kevin Hern, Mike Johnson, Dan Meuser, Gary Palmer, Austin Scott, and Pete Sessions. All candidates, except for Emmer and Scott, voted to decertify the 2020 election.
