The woman filed a notice of intent to sue Adams, alleging he sexually assaulted her in 1993 while they were both employed by the city. Adams, who denies the accusation, was an officer in the Transit Police Department at the time. The accuser's notice was filed just before the expiration of the Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims to sue their alleged abusers even if the statute of limitations has passed. The woman plans to seek at least $5 million in damages.
