Lizette Delgado-Polanco Fined by State Ethics Commission

Lizette Delgado-Polanco, former CEO of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority, has agreed to pay a $3,500 fine for hiring relatives and friends, including her nephew and the mother of her grandchild, without proper recusal. Her tenure was also marked by a scandal involving her chief of staff, Al Alvarez, who faced sexual assault allegations. Delgado-Polanco resigned after less than eight months and has stepped down as vice chair of the Democratic State Committee. The Ethics Commission sought a quick resolution to the five-year investigation.
