Lawsuits filed against state officials over abortion and capital punishment policies.

Health care providers in Idaho, including Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky, and two doctors, have sued the state’s attorney general over his new guidance that prohibits medical providers from referring patients out-of-state for abortion services. The lawsuit argues that the interpretation of the law runs afoul of several constitutional protections, including the First Amendment’s free speech guarantees. The attorney general’s office declined to fully comment on the lawsuit, but said in a statement that they look forward to addressing Planned Parenthood’s arguments in court.
