LaRose Jumps into Ohio Senate Primary

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has entered the Republican primary race for the Ohio Senate seat currently held by Democrat Sherrod Brown. LaRose will face two wealthy GOP rivals, Bernie Moreno and state Sen. Matt Dolan, in the primary. LaRose believes he has the strongest chance of defeating Brown due to his strong statewide name recognition. However, the primary is expected to be messy, with both Moreno and Dolan likely to inject significant funds into their campaigns. National Republicans have not indicated they will get involved in the primary. Brown, a three-term senator, is considered a tough opponent to beat, but LaRose has criticized him for presenting himself as a moderate.
