Ken Paxton Suspended Without Pay After Impeachment

Former Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has been suspended without pay after being impeached from office. The Texas House voted 121-23 to impeach Paxton after a two-month investigation into his request to use state funds to settle a $3.3 million whistleblower lawsuit. The suspension means Gov. Greg Abbott can appoint an interim attorney general, which he did on Wednesday, appointing former Texas Secretary of State John Scott. Paxton's office released a statement calling the impeachment "illegal."
