Jackson City Council Sparks Emotions and Frustration with Garbage Contract Vote

Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba expressed frustration and emotion after the city council voted against a garbage collection contract proposal, leaving the city without a vendor to collect its trash. The mayor said his office has worked hard to avoid the situation, which ultimately means there is no one being paid to pick up garbage in Jackson. The next time a contractor could be brought before the council could be in nearly two months.
