"House Homeland Security Chair Mark Green Announces Retirement"

Rep. Mark Green, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, has announced he will not seek reelection, joining other Republican committee leaders. Green led the House Republican investigation into Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who became the first sitting Cabinet secretary to be impeached by Republicans for the Biden administration’s immigration policies. Green stated that he believes the country and Congress are beyond repair and that his fight is not within Washington but with Washington. He also mentioned accomplishing his mission in Congress and plans to return home. The Republican primary race to replace Green is scheduled for August 1.
