Newsom's tweet is part of a larger push by Democrats to pass gun safety legislation. Blackburn voted against the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in June, which provides grants for states to implement red flag laws and other crisis intervention programs. The shooting at The Covenant School left six people dead, including three children.
