GOP Faces Possible Decade-Long Senate Minority, Warns Chair.

The chairman of the Senate GOP's campaign arm, Sen. Steve Daines, warned that if Republicans don't win the Senate in 2024, they could be stuck in the minority for the rest of the decade. Daines emphasized the importance of winning Senate elections in "red states" with Democratic senators up for re-election in 2022. Democrats currently hold a 51-49 majority, and Republicans must pick up at least 2 seats to regain the majority. Daines has vowed to take a more interventionist approach in GOP primaries to avoid "candidate quality" issues that plagued the party in 2022. The GOP's best pick-up opportunities in 2026 and 2028 may be in states like Georgia and Arizona.
