Ex-Police Chief Sentenced to 11 Years for Bringing Weapons to Capitol on Jan. 6

Alan Hostetter, a former California police chief, has been sentenced to over 11 years in prison for his role in the January 6th Capitol siege. Hostetter was found guilty of multiple felony charges, including conspiracy, and was accused of bringing weapons and tactical gear to the Capitol. During his sentencing hearing, Hostetter continued to espouse conspiracy theories, claiming the election was "stolen" and that Jan. 6 was a "false flag" operation. The judge handed down one of the longest sentences in Jan. 6-related cases, citing the First Amendment does not give the right to obstruct or carry weapons into restricted areas. Hostetter plans to appeal his conviction.
