"Ethics Panel Recommends Felony Charges Against Trump Fundraising Arm in Wisconsin"

The Wisconsin Ethics Commission has recommended felony charges against former President Donald Trump's fundraising committee and Republican state lawmaker Janel Brandtjen for allegedly conspiring to evade campaign finance laws in an effort to unseat Assembly Speaker Robin Vos. The commission alleges that Trump's committee, Brandtjen, and others illegally steered at least $40,000 into the campaign of Vos's primary opponent, Adam Steen, in violation of state fundraising limits. If county prosecutors don't act within 60 days, the commission will seek charges from another district attorney or the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Vos had angered Trump by distancing himself from false claims of election fraud and calls to overturn President Joe Biden's win in Wisconsin.
