Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman to Retire from U.S. Diplomacy

Wendy Sherman, the Deputy Secretary of State in the Biden administration, will retire this summer after decades of government service. Sherman played a key role in the administration's efforts to compete with China in the Indo-Pacific and was involved in marshaling international diplomatic support for Ukraine after Russia's invasion. She was also a lead negotiator in the Clinton administration's talks to end North Korea's ballistic missile program and the lead negotiator with Iran on the 2015 nuclear deal during the Obama administration. Secretary of State Antony Blinken praised Sherman's career and leadership.
