Delbert Hosemann secures Republican nomination, prepares to face Democratic newcomer in November

Republican Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann defeated state Sen. Chris McDaniel and another Republican challenger in the GOP primary. Hosemann will face Democratic newcomer Ryan Grover in the November general election. In his victory speech, Hosemann highlighted his accomplishments and pledged to tackle the state's issues. He also called for campaign finance reform after accusing McDaniel and related PACs of violating state laws. McDaniel conceded and acknowledged that a lack of campaign funds played a role in his loss. The race exposed weaknesses in Mississippi's campaign finance laws and prompted calls for reform.
