Chicago to Host 2024 Democratic National Convention, Beating Out Atlanta

Chicago has been selected to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention, beating out bids from Atlanta and New York. The convention will take place from August 19-22 and is expected to draw between 5,000 and 7,000 delegates and alternates, as well as up to 50,000 visitors to the city. The United Center will host evening events, while daytime business will be conducted at the McCormick Place Convention Center. The selection of Chicago highlights the importance of the Midwest "Blue Wall" states, which were all won by Democrats in the 2020 election.
