Cherelle Parker has won the Philadelphia Democratic primary for mayor, becoming the first woman to do so in the city's history. She will face Republican David Oh in November's general election. Parker's campaign focused on community leaders and local elected officials, and her plans include hiring more police officers, updating the Philadelphia Police Department's forensics capabilities, and increasing the number of body-worn cameras. She resigned from Philadelphia City Council in September 2022 to run for mayor and won the primary with 33.16% of the votes counted so far.
