Celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride: Officials, Events, and Allyship

The Biden administration boasts an array of officials who represent historic firsts in their respective positions, including Pete Buttigieg, the first openly gay Senate-confirmed Cabinet secretary in U.S. history, and Karine Jean-Pierre, the first Black, gay, immigrant woman to hold the position of press secretary. The administration has roughly 15% of all appointees identifying as LGBTQ, and there have been a slew of federal judges nominated and confirmed over the past two years that have broken barriers as LGBTQ jurists.
