Brett Favre implicated in Mississippi welfare scandal.

Former U.S. Attorney Brad Pigott, who investigated Mississippi's misuse of welfare funds, has called former NFL star Brett Favre the "driving force" behind the scandal. Favre had repeatedly demanded grant money, which was ultimately directed towards his projects, including a volleyball facility at the University of Southern Mississippi and a pharmaceutical company known as Prevacus. Pigott was fired after he subpoenaed the university for its communications with Favre and former Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant. Mississippi Today won a Pulitzer Prize for its investigation into the scandal.
