Biden selects Gen. Charles Q. Brown as Joint Chiefs Chairman.

President Biden plans to nominate Gen. Charles Q. Brown, the Air Force chief of staff, to become the country's most senior military officer, succeeding Gen. Mark A. Milley as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. If confirmed by the Senate, Brown would be the second Black man to hold the position after Colin L. Powell. Brown's confirmation would also mean that the top two Pentagon leaders would be Black men for the first time in history.
