Arizona Governor Demands $512M Reimbursement from Biden for Border Security Failure

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, has demanded over $512 million in federal reimbursement from President Joe Biden for the state's spending on the southern border crisis. Hobbs accused Biden of failing to secure the border as Customs and Border Protection encounters with migrants reached a one-day high of 12,000. The governor criticized the closure of the Lukeville border crossing, calling it an "unmitigated humanitarian crisis" and urged for National Guard members to be mobilized to assist in reopening the crossing. Arizona Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema also criticized the closure and demanded better solutions from the Biden administration.
