"Massive Power Outages Plague Maine as Restoration Efforts Begin"

Over 400,000 residents in Maine are still without power following a storm that brought heavy rains and strong winds. Central Maine Power's line crews were unable to begin restoration work due to dangerous conditions caused by wind gusts. The storm resulted in downed power lines, blocked roads, and trapped individuals. As of Tuesday morning, nearly 320,000 CMP customers and over 96,000 Versant Power customers were affected by outages. Three hundred out-of-state crews are expected to join the existing 400 crews working to restore power. The storm caused two fatalities and led to road closures and flooding. Maine's larger rivers are still rising, posing a risk of further flooding.
